Oh how the world has changed since the time of our foremothers, when society's expectations of women were just as confining as the corsets they had to wear.
Today, thankfully, women now enjoy equal rights and more opportunities. Women can now be CEOs and even heads of state, and not merely relegated to positions that do not harness their talent and potential. And no longer is it looked down upon if women want to have it all—a fulfilling career, a happy marriage, and a family. There is nothing that we can't do!
And as we look around today, there's no lack of inspiring and influential women, especially for our daughters. There's Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling and the likes. Though, of course, our kids may be more interested in the Taylor Swifts and Maine Mendozas of the world.
But as mothers, we can introduce them to other inspiring young women who have succeeded in breaking the glass ceiling, and are making waves in different and exciting fields, such as astronomy, photography, and social enterprise. Thanks to their examples, we can encourage our daughters to dream beyond the conventional.
Here, we introduce 7 amazing women that are worthy to be called role models.
