Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup extra-sharp cheddar cheese, chredded
  • 1½ cups heavy cream

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in ½ cup of cheddar cheese. Add 1 ¼ cups heavy cream, and continue to stir using a wooden spoon until a dough forms. Turn out the dough onto a working surface, leaving dry, floury bits in the bowl.
  3. Add the reminaing ¼ cup cream, a tbsp at a time, to the bowl; mix well with the wooden spoon after each addition, until the dry bits are moistened. Add the moistened bits to the dough, kneading them in by hand until smooth.
  4. Pat the dough into an 8-inch circle. Cut into 8 wedges, and transfer onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes, or until wedges are just beginning to brown. Remove from oven, and sprinkle each biscuit with 1½ tsp cheddar. Rotate the sheet, and return to the oven to bake until golden brown and cheese has melted, about 7 to 9 minutes. Serve warm.
