Pregnant women can drink green tea in moderation. It is good for heart health, promotes blood circulation, helps digestion and even reduces swelling. But it contains polyphenols and caffeine which in large quantities are not great for baby's development.
Green tea should be consumed with caution during the postpartum period. The citrate found in green tea may affect blood circulation, and affect breast milk secretion.
Drink green tea with caution while breastfeeding. Drinking green tea in controlled amounts during breastfeeding can enhance heart health and digestion. However, the caffeine and tannic acid in green tea may affect breast milk production.
Green tea is not suitable for babies under the age of 11 months.
